Old Lady in the Mirror

One day I looked in the mirror and I didn’t recognize myself. There was this old lady staring back at me. She looked like my mother. I thought, who is that? It bought to mind the time I took my elderly father to a Senior Citizen's Recreation center, at the request of the Social Worker. She insisted that my dad needed to be more social and he would enjoy the company of people his own age. My dad took just a moment and looked around, he said get me out of here! “Ain’t nothin but old people in here!”
You see in our minds we still envision ourselves as young, it’s only when we see our reflection that we notice the changes that life has bestowed upon us.
I say, embrace that old lady, she is still here, alive and doing things she likes. To solve the shock of the old lady in the mirror, I put up more mirrors so I can see myself getting old. Getting old is a blessing, many of my friends are not here to see that old person in the mirror.
